When a coupon says "limit one coupon per purchase" does that mean I can't use say 2 or more coupons on the?

same one item or does that mean if I buy 5 items I can still only use one coupon to save on one item? I have a yogurt coupon for 50 cents off and I want to buy more than one yogurt and use a coupon for each one of them as I have multiple coupons.
