Need help on ebay? please help?

well i was bidding on something on ebay. it was 99 cents plus shipping...and the highest bidding is $1.25 and i bid $2.00 and it says i need to put a bigger # and i did and i went all the way to 10 dollars?????? why wont it work or did someone put in something more than that in i dont know??? please help me
